Learner Safety

Trust, Safety & Professional Standards

Learning to drive is built on trust between the instructor and the student. A safe, supportive environment is essential — not only for developing driving skills, but also for protecting the learner’s overall wellbeing.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) sets strict professional standards for driving instructors. Every instructor must be considered a “Fit and Proper” person before they are authorised and licensed to teach.

DVSA Code of Conduct

All Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) must agree to follow the DVSA’s official Code of Conduct. Although the code is entered into voluntarily, it forms part of the professional standards expected by the DVSA and reflects what is considered “fit and proper” behaviour.

This code covers:

  • Professional behaviour

  • Integrity and honesty

  • Respectful communication

  • Safeguarding responsibilities

  • Maintaining high instructional standards

All Rev Up ADIs confirm that they are signed up to the DVSA Code of Conduct, and their registration status can be verified via the official GOV.UK website.

DBS Certification & Safeguarding

At the point of registration, every ADI must hold a valid certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Rev Up instructors:

  • Hold a current and valid DBS certificate

  • Maintain continuous DBS coverage throughout their teaching licence

  • Ensure there are no gaps in safeguarding clearance

In addition, instructors wear a professional lanyard displaying:

  • Their name

  • Their ADI registration number

  • The date of their current DBS certificate

This ensures full transparency, accountability, and reassurance for both learners and parents.

Our commitment is simple:
Professional standards. Complete transparency. Safe learning for every student.
