Safeguarding

1. Policy Statement

Rev Up Driving Lessons is committed to providing a safe, respectful and professional learning environment for all pupils.

This policy outlines the safeguarding principles and professional standards applied to protect pupils, particularly those under 18, as well as the instructor.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all driving tuition delivered by Rev Up Driving Lessons, including work with under 18s and vulnerable adults.

As a sole trader, the business owner is responsible for implementing and reviewing this policy.

3. Professional Conduct Standards

The Instructor will maintain clear professional boundaries at all times.

Inappropriate language, behaviour, or physical contact will not be tolerated.

Physical contact will only occur where necessary for safety (e.g., emergency intervention).

Communication with pupils will remain professional and lesson-related.

4. Communication and Social Media

Personal social media contact with pupils is not permitted.

Messages will remain professional in tone and content.

Communication with pupils under 18 may include parents or guardians where appropriate.

5. Working with Under 18s

Parent or guardian contact details will be obtained prior to tuition commencing.

Parents may request updates on progress where appropriate.

Lessons will be conducted in a professional and transparent manner.

6. Lone Working and Safety Measures

Lessons take place on a one-to-one basis within a tuition vehicle.

The Instructor operates within professional standards at all times.

Dashcams may be used in accordance with the Privacy Notice for safety and protection purposes.

7. Managing Disclosures

If a pupil discloses information suggesting they are at risk of harm, the Instructor will remain calm and listen without judgement.

The Instructor will not promise confidentiality.

Concerns will be recorded factually and, where appropriate, signposted to relevant authorities or support services.

8. Allegations Against the Instructor

Any allegation of misconduct will be taken seriously and handled through the Complaints Procedure.

Accurate records will be maintained.

Where necessary, appropriate authorities may be informed.

9. Reporting Concerns

If safeguarding concerns arise, advice may be sought from appropriate local safeguarding services or relevant authorities.

Immediate risks to safety will be reported to emergency services where required.

10. Review of Policy

This policy will be reviewed annually or following any significant incident, regulatory change, or operational change within the business.
